Kairi is a generally cheerful and optimistic girl who likes to spend her time having fun. She is a person who thrives off of being in the company of others, and doesn't handle lonliness very well. It will be easy for her to find and make friends at the University, and she'll spend a good deal of time with whoever she can. She is one of the magically special Princess of Heart and has a pure heart, which means that she will always do the right thing. She is incredibly kind and sociable, and likes to talk to anyone she comes across. Her friendly nature makes it very easy to befriend Kairi, and the fact that she trusts most everyone she meets also makes it very easy to take advantage of her. She dislikes evil and frowns upon bad things, although that doesn't mean she doesn't get devious and get herself into trouble. She is still a human, despite that pesky pure heart, and has been known to cause mayhem and mischief along with Riku and Sora on numerous occasions. Kairi is more of a follower than a leader, and most of the time will do whatever it is that Riku and Sora are doing. This isn't because she can't think for herself, its because she prefers to let them take the lead unless its a situation where she absolutely needs to take charge.
She is young, and inexperienced in life. The girl has a lot to learn about being out on her own, although she is a fast learner, and shouldn't have a problem. She is naive about love and matters of the heart, although she dreams about finding her own prince charming one day. She likes to laugh and enjoy life, and is often seen joking around and playing. She can be serious if the situation calls for it, she just prefers relaxing and having a good time. She is physically weak, and seems to have the annoying problem of posessing the damsel in distress trait. No matter how hard she tries to be strong and fight, she always needs someone to come in and rescue her. She did (somehow) obtain a keyblade during her second adventure in finding Riku and Sora, and has been training herself so that she knows how to use it, which has made her slightly stronger. But even though she's weaker than Riku and Sora, and knows it, that doesn't stop her from fighting for them or for others who need help.

Kairi really can't remember her life before she came to the Destiny Islands, and she doesn't mind that at all. All of the memories that she does have start from the time she is an older child, and they are all happy ones. From the time she arrived on the islands, she made quick friends out of two boys named Sora and Riku. Together, the three had many adventures and stuck by one another through anything that came their way. Even when the three entered their teenage years and a rivalry seemed to form between Riku and Sora, Kairi stood by them both, making sure neither got into too much trouble. When she was fourteen, an event happened that changed her life forever. The islands she knew as home were attacked by strange creatures known as heartless, and she was taken by the darkness that came with them. Unknown to her, Kairi was one of the Princess of Heart, and her pure heart was needed in order to open the door to Kingdom Hearts. A witch named Maleficent used Kairi to control Riku and put him against Sora, so that it would be easier for her to reach her goal of obtaining Kingdom Hearts. Left in a comatose state for quite sometime, she had no idea that although they were taking very different paths, both boys were trying to save her. In the end, Sora was able to bring Kairi's heart back to its normal self, and she stood by his side as he fought to rid every world of darkness and bring them back home. They were seperated after the big battle, and Kairi was sent back to the islands while both Riku and Sora were left behind. Sora promised to come back to her, and Kairi didn't forget that until a little over a year later.
For a reason unknown to her, all of her memories of her spikey haired friend seemed to just dissapear. She could recall that such a boy had existed, but couldn't remember his name. It wasn't until much later that she recalled Sora, and fought her hardest to find her own way to her friend. Once she remembered everything, she wasn't going to sit by idly, she was going to fight too. She eventually found her way to both Riku and Sora, and supported them as they fought together against the forces of darkness. In the end, her best friends found their way home to her, and everything went back to normal. Or as normal as life could be for the three of them, after all the events that had happened.
After graduating from the small high school on the mainland, Kairi watched as Riku left and attended a University far away. She had no idea what she wanted to do with her life, but knew that she didn't want to just sit around on the islands and do nothing. After bidding goodbye to family and friends, the young woman applied to Desai University and made her way toward the campus. She planned on studying all about the histories of other worlds, and hoped to possibly learn more about some of the worlds Sora and Riku had told her about from their adventures. She has aspirations of visiting them all herself one day, and planned on being fully prepared when she did so.
