Doctor Madie Bolourchi is best known to most fans of "Deal or No Deal" simply as "Player 14". Sometime after his original game aired on the 15th November 2005 he contacted a number of the growing number of "Deal or No Deal" stats sites on the internet and strong-armed most of them into removing his name and game details from their lists, hence the day 15th November was for many months afterwards recorded as either "Censored", "Information withheld at Player's Request" or the name "Player 14" was used in place of his real name.
The reason for Madie's aversion to publicity is unknown. It is true that he turned down a very large offer (well above the mean) in the closing stages of his game, but he did end up winning £4,800, even if, yes, he could have had more. Madie had only £5 in his box anyway, so in many respects it was a player win. Many hours have been spent on Wikipedia debating the validity of the widely respected ban on revealing Madie's identity, helped in many ways by digital TV channel "More4"s decision to air all the early episodes in order during the 2006 "Summer Break", which thus revealed Madie's true identity at last to a much larger audience. One of the main Wikipedia rules [1] is "Wikipedia is NOT censored" - the information is in the public domain whether Madie likes it or not, and whatever he has managed to strong-arm other sites into doing is not relevant to what Wikipedia does.
