Francisco Urcuyo Maliaños (July 30, 1915 - September 14, 2001) was the fifty-second President of the Federal Republic of Central America. He was preceded by Anastasio Somoza Debayle.
Originally a surgeon, he obtained his degree at the National Autonomous University of Mexico in 1944. He first entered politics in 1954. He served as Vice-Minister of Health on two occasions, twice as Vice-President, and Speaker of the Chamber of the Deputies before assuming the presidency. During his administration, he continued and expanded upon the reforms initiated by his predecessor. He was also credited with initiating sound economic policies that brought about relatively quick recovery from the devastation caused by war.
After stepping down in 1988, he retired to write several volumes of memoirs. He died of a heart attack in a Managua hospital in 2001.
He and his wife, María Luisa Muñoz, had four children: Francisco, Bayardo, Roberto, and Mario.
