Dermaplating
Dermaplating is the Cybertronian equivalent of skin. It's a metallic plating that covers the softer protometals and the structural supports that make up a Cybertronian body.
Function
Dermaplating serves multiple purposes. Firstly, it protects the softer and weaker interiors of a Cybertronian. Some dermaplating is better than others in this regard, and is typically used in the military as armor. Secondly, it houses a series of dermal sensors ranging from pressure plating, thermal detection, photoreceptors, and more. Thirdly, Dermaplating serves a decorative purpose, allowing Cybertronians to affect different "styles and fashions".
Color
Typically, dermaplating takes on a specific color scheme based on the Cybertronian wearing it. This is due to the Cybertronian's unique spark, creating a sense of identity for the Cybertronian. If damaged or marred, dermaplating will eventually regain its natural color. However, There are also some special kinds of dermaplating that can be applied to change a Cybertronian's innate color scheme as well. Typically used to designate a group of individuals as belonging to the same team in a sport like turbines, it goes on over the regular dermaplating, and is more easily detachable.
Hands
The Dermaplating in Cybertronian hands is especially pressure and thermal sensitive, allowing for more precise handling of external items.
