What's left of France

From Create Your Own Story

You have selected the remains of France. Between the Wars, France took note of the powerful creatures that Germany had used to tear through Belgium and straight on through almost to Paris, and the government decided that Paris would no longer go undefended. On the southwest side of the Seine River, a massive wall was built that wrapped around a large portion of the city on that side of the river as well as thousands of acres of countryside outside the city. This was the Stronghold, and though it could not defend against artillery fire , tanks, or planes for more than a few days, it would hold almost any of the Germans' monsters at bay.

Paris began to grow around this walled-off area, turning the towns and cities around the wall into major trade centers. France's economy was booming until 1939, when the second great war began.

Fortunately, this time France was ready. Since the last war with Germany, French scientists had been working on weapons that would counter the living tools of destruction manufactured by the Germans. Finally, a new type of weapon was created: Microbial Dispersal Weapons. Later labeled as WMDs on par with Italian viral bombs and American Nuclear weaponry, MDWs were capable of spreading bacteria and fungi across a battlefield or city in a matter of hours, infecting every susceptible being in its path. For now, however, they are just another horror of this Biological War.

After three years of fighting, the Germans are a mere fifty miles from the Parisian gates, and their hell hounds are inching closer as more and more French troops die. Italian forces, too, draw nearer from the south. It appears the Stronghold may become very useful very shortly.
