Wdyw/Stick with your trusty car

From Create Your Own Story

There is no point in potentially dying for the sake of a video game, so you decide to stick to four wheels. You finish the game after several months and it gets released to the public. Reviews are mixed with slightly more positive reviews. The sales are adequate and the company makes a profit, but it is nothing groundbreaking. You don't get a raise or promotion, but that is okay. Many critics wonder if the creators had ever even ridden a motorcycle in their lives. It feels like a personal blow, but you understand why they say it. Sometimes you do regret not taking that chance, and other days you are glad you are alive to even read reviews like that.

You leave work that day feeling disappointed and get in your car to drive home. You see a motorcyclist on the way and he races by you at twice your speed. You can't stop the twinge of envy at his freedom while you are stuck in traffic. You watch as he weaves in and out of the slow moving cars until one car doesn't use its turn signal and hit the motorcyclist. He is thrown from his bike and gets hit by another car who slams on the brakes but gets rear ended by the line of cars behind it. Soon there is what looks like a ten car pile up right in front of you. That could of have very well been you, you think to yourself as you stare at the carnage. There is no way that man made it out alive after that. You get out of your car since nobody is going to be moving anytime soon. The motorcyclist is under a car and not moving. You see gas leaking over the lifeless body but then see the legs moving a little. He is alive! You reach for him but can't grab him. You try calling out but it is unbearably loud around you. You crawl under the car and feel the gas soak your clothes. This is not good, but you reach the cyclist and start to pull him despite the faint groans you hear under the helmet. The paramedics show up as soon as possible and thank you. They take off the helmet and the motorcyclist is not a man at all. She is a woman and she looks at you with an intense gratitude or maybe she is seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Blood is dripping out of her leathers and you wish there was something you could do. Her shock of orange hair flows around her pale skin and give her a halo appearance. Suddenly, you want to know her and be with her. This was meant to be, its more than just a random coincidence and she is gone like that. She is declared dead and you cry. The paramedics ask for her name assuming you know her, but you don't and now you never will.

You stay with Eric at the company until you retire at 64. You make some great games, but never make another motorcycle game again and none of your coworkers know why you refuse their attempts to do so. You got married at 35, but the motorcyclist is forever etched in your brain. It might not have worked, you might have not been a good couple at all, but its hard to know. There is always the what if and you die with those two words on the end of your lips....what if?
