Wdyw/Accept the inevitable

From Create Your Own Story

You accept the inevitable and use the week you have to get the money to say your goodbyes. You spend it with your children, Tina, and your friends. You have some good drinks and good conversations. You savor these final moments with those that you love and hope that things will turn out okay. After the seven days are up, you return to the police station and get put on a plane to California to serve your time. Thirty years is a long time, but you hope you can make it through to return home again. Tina says she will wait for you, but you insist she finds someone else to make her happy. You want to be with her forever, but you can't make her wait and suffer while you are away.

In CA, you are put into a federal prison known for its intense violence. Your cellmate is a scary looking dude named Roger. He won't tell you why he is here and you aren't sure you want to know for that matter. You live in a constant state of paranoia and fear. There is no safety here; Roger could murder you in your sleep for all you know. Your hair starts to grey from the stress and you get anxiety attacks daily. You see yourself in the mirror and within a year you look like you have aged 15 years. Now you are glad you told Tina to move on, there is no way she could love you like this. How could you have been so careless to forgot those student loans? Why did you take them in the first place? These questions bear down on you as you maneuver through life in the prison. You get released after five years due to CA budget cuts and overpopulation. You have scars and wounds all over your body from the countless fights you have endured and you look almost 50 years old even though you are only 33. You don't know whether to stay in the states or head back to England. Will Tina still be there? Will your kids know who you are? Can you face them if they don't?
