WAS: Follow the princess and her pursuers into the forbidden swamp

You’re confident that the looters wouldn’t follow you even if they saw you riding towards the swamplands, so you make haste to catch up with the bandits and the princess. The princess has a clear head start over her pursuers, and they in turn have a clear head start over you. Thus both the princess and the three bandits enter the swamps long before you do.

In the swamp you quickly losses track of the bandits and the princess. This truly is a despicable place to be in. The ground feels more like water than solid land and the monstrous swamp trees have grown so wild that their branches and leaves now clog up the sky, leaving only small cracks of sunlight to light up this devilish land. It is also a treacherous land with several poisonous spiders and small but deep ponds that have been clogged up by leaves making them look like solid land. However this is not enough for a swamp to be declared forbidden, deeper in the swamp, it is said that terrifying creatures live, creatures who sees humans as food just as any other animal.
In an area like this it's easy to get lost, and even harder to track someone. Soon you wander aimlessly with your only hope being that the bandits have gotten lost too. Yet those who are favored by the gods never wander aimlessly for long. You see that in the distance, leaning against a tree is one of the bandits, but is he dead or asleep? You’re still too far away from the scene to find out, should you approach or stay cautious?
