The Story:
You decide to choose the green glyph again. The blue one disappears and the green glyph glows brightly summoning your next challenge in the temple. The glow of the glyph feels dark and you are honestly confused for a moment unable to comprehend that your luck just ran out. You choose the difficult challenge. The instant you choose the glyph the entire room is engulfed in darkness. You pull your sword in panic letting the holy light glow but you can hardly see five feet in front of you. You and the priest step close together and the priest raises a hand into the air and casts a powerful light spell illuminating the entire room at once. It is still dark but you can see, the night sky itself seemingly changed to night. You jump, surprised, as you immediately see a human male standing not fifteen feet away from you and the priest simply watching you.
Leveling your sword towards him you are surprised when he just stands there watching you. He doesn't look hostile, more elegant than strong and wearing nobleman's clothing. He has no weapons but you can't break the feeling of extreme danger when you look at the man. His skin is too pale. And then he smiles. You hiss and step back towards the priest leveling your sword as you see his teeth. His is a vampire. He is a very powerful creature that you are immediately worried you can't defeat.
Upon letting you recognize what he is the vampire laughs and suddenly explodes into a swarm of bats flying right at the two of you. You wave your sword defensively but stand no chance against so many bats at once. Thankfully your priest is ready and casts a powerful nova of holy light which washes over the swarm destroying them. The vampire appears out of the nova striking with hands that have grown massive extremely sharp claws. You manage to raise your sword in time parrying the attacks before your eyes open wide as the vampire flies past your attacks with incredible speed landing a nasty blow against the priest before retreating.
Catching the priest you prop her up as she slowly heals herself then curse as the bats swarm around you again biting at you all over the place. You fend them off until the priest can send off another holy nova just for the vampire to strike again. The next moment he slams into the two of you knocking you apart and plunging the room into darkness. He follows up on you slashing over and over and you stumble back frantically parrying at his incredibly powerful attacks. You manage for a moment but just as the priest returns light the vampire slips behind you and rakes you across the back making you scream and fall.
The priest is there quickly with the powerful light trying to drive the vampire away from you but it just turns on the priest instead. He launches at her and she isn't quick enough to dodge and the vampire seizes her by the neck biting deeply into her sending blood spraying everywhere with a pained whimper from the priest as she collapses against the ground. Fury builds up inside you and despite your wounds you launch yourself at the vampire in a desperate attempt to defend the priest. The vampires is surprised by your ferocity and doesn't manage to block all of your swings taking a deep cut along his side which causes him to howl in pain as the holy enchantment burns past his resistances. You quickly thank your luck for obtaining such an enchantment otherwise you'd have no hope of even hurting this thing.
With a massive blow the vampire knocks you away slamming you into a boulder before launching after you with a facade of powerful blows. You defending like crazy before a powerful light explodes slamming into the back of the vampire. It hisses loudly burning from the powerful light spell but goes mad in rage. Instead of retreating it slams your sword out of your hand with a powerful blow before grappling you against the rock and biting deeply into your neck causing you to absolutely scream in pain. You writhe in agony and desperately try to shove the vampire away but it is too powerful. The priest continues to burn it but it just ignores the pain slowly sapping you of yours. To your horror you realize the more it drains you the more powerful it is becoming.
Just as you have lost too much blood to even stand the vampire suddenly jerks upright with a surprised look and looks back with a loud hiss. You look down and to your surprise see your sword rammed right through the vampire's heart from behind. It shudders against you then finally explodes into a million bats. The priest collapses against the ground next to you bloodied but doesn't let the vampire escape. She uses her most powerful magic and suddenly the night turns back to day. All of the bats start to shriek and burst into flames and suddenly the vampire appears again burning and streaking across the room randomly in searing pain. Before long it collapses and unsummons.
You and the priest look at each other covered and blood and breathing raggedly as you feel the experience wash over you gaining Level 4. The priest rests for a small while before finally managing to heal both of you well enough to stand. She ended up using too much magic on the fight to heal both of you fully but what she has done so far will do. You give her your heart felt thanks, you would surely have been defeated if not for her. You get the feeling that the difficult challenge was more difficult than normal just because you've had so much good luck.
As you worry about what terrible creature will appear if you get unlucky twice in a row you notice that two new glyphs have appeared. Steeling yourself as everything has gotten very real very fast you choose one and stay close to the priest. Maybe your luck will return but you don't plan on having to rely on it. Little do you notice the vampires bite on both of you slowly turning you from the inside.
