"Did you know," she whispered, leaning in close enough that her breath tickled your ear, "that rosemary is considered an aphrodisiac?"
"Really?" you murmured, trying to keep your voice steady despite the shivers that ran down your spine. "Does it work?"
"Only one way to find out," she said, winking as she took the jar from your hands and replaced it with another. This time, it was filled with dried marjoram, its sweet and spicy aroma adding yet another layer to the heady mix of scents that surrounded you both.
"Tyler," you ventured, swallowing hard as you struggled to find the courage to express your true feelings. "There's something I need to tell you."
"Go ahead," she encouraged, her eyes shining with curiosity and warmth.
The bell over the door chimed merrily, and apologetically, Tyler had to peck your cheek and duck under your arms. As much as she wanted to continue, it would cost her her job if it happened to be someone who knew the manager coming in and she hadn't jumped into action.
