Try to make it under the rapidly descending door with your speed

You fling your body underneath the rapidly descending door. You are very fast, and indeed most of you makes it through. Unfortunately, your left foot is left on the wrong side as the extremely heavy stone door closes down solidly right on your foot, crushing flesh and bone into paste.

Though you are screaming in agony, your courage and training as a Van Helsing instantly kick in. You tie a tourniquet around your left leg, bandage the bloody stump of your ankle as best you can, and begin crawling back to the surface. It takes you hours, and several times you almost pass out from shock, but you make it, shouting a prayer of thanks when you finally see the sunlight again. Your camel is still waiting there. You mount the animal, using your upper body strength to pull yourself up, and begin riding it back to civilization, keeping your left leg elevated on the camel's back.

You know that your career as a slayer of monsters is over. Back at your estate, you are well taken care of by your friends, who hail you as a heroine, but it is small consolation for becoming a cripple and no longer being able to have adventures.

As you lie back in a comfortable chair in your study, you look down at your one remaining foot, then at the wall, where one of your friends painted you a picture of a female warrior beheading a dragon. You sigh as you think of the glamourous life you used to have.
