Try and finish the day's homework before dinnertime

You hold Katy against you for several minutes as you both let your churning emotions and the crazy events of the day process. Eventually, you say, "Well, we'd better get back to being students. There is homework due tomorrow."
Katy sighs and disengages her body from yours. "I suppose."
You call your parents to let them know you're having dinner at Katy's. Then the two of you dress and study. You finish up 90 minutes later and walk out to the living room. You've just settled on the couch, with Katy nestling her head on your chest, when the front door opens.
"Donna is safely in police custody," Mr. Haas says. "After they finish questioning her about what happened, she'll join us."
Right as the four of you have finished dinner, a beaming Donna walks in. The first thing she does is hug her parents and her sister.
