Cautiously, you took a deep breath and decided to confide in Tyler. "No, Tyler, I mean... did you know that Alex and Johnson have been sleeping together?" You kept your voice low, barely above a whisper.
Tyler's smile dropped like a stone into the abyss, her eyes widening in shock. The laughter she had emitted moments before seemed to choke in her throat, making way for stunned silence. For several seconds, she stared at you blankly, her mind racing to process the revelation. Finally, she spoke, her voice trembling with uncertainty.
"Wh-what? Are you serious?"
You nodded solemnly, watching as the gears turned in Tyler's head. Her eyes flickered back and forth between Alex and you, trying to picture the two of them engaged in a romantic tryst. The image refused to coalesce, leaving her feeling disoriented and uncomfortable. She shuddered involuntarily, shaking her head as if to drive away an unwelcome thought.
"Ugh, I just can't see it," she whispered, her brow furrowing in disbelief. "How did you even find out about this?"
You hesitated, contemplating whether you should reveal your source. Your fingers fidgeted with the edge of your notebook as you gathered your thoughts, trying to balance loyalty and honesty. Finally, you decided on a vague response.
"Let's just say I overheard something I shouldn't have," you murmured, avoiding direct eye contact. "I didn't want to believe it either, but... well, now you know."
Tyler bit her lip, her expression a mix of concern and confusion. She glanced back at Alex, who was still captivating the class with his magical prowess, completely unaware of the secret you'd just shared. The conflicting emotions roiled within her, casting a shadow over her previously cheerful demeanor.
"Wow, I just... I don't even know what to think," she admitted. You stop looking at Tyler, knowing you did the right thing telling someone but still feeling bad for it all the same.
