"I'm sure your parents, and probably you yourself, Katy, want to spend time with Donna without me interfering with the joyous reunion," you say.

"Your sentence structure is a thing to be admired," Donna giggles. "But you're right."

You all finish up and stand. You pull Katy into an embrace and give her a kiss. "See you tomorrow, then? Walk you to school?"

Katy grins. "Brandon, I'd love it."

Donna escorts you and Katy to the school. "It's great to be able to walk free... and have my sister back," she smiles. "And I'm proud of you, Brandon. You're taking good care of her."

You put on your most modest grin. "I try. She's quite nice."

"What are we going to do after school today, Brandon?" Katy inquires.

"First, we'll do our homework in the library," you tell her.

"Good plan," she responds. "And after that...?"

• "I'll take you to the lake, Katy, and we can sit on the beach and watch the birds and the waves."
