You knock on the window and wave at Luke. He smiles back at you and waves, his sweaty body shimmers in the hot sun and you cannot take your eyes off it.
You remember every Monday when Luke comes to do his job your mother always goes out ND offers him a cold drink. You think you better go do the same as it the polite thing to do .
You walk outside and ask him
“ sure make a coke would be great thanks” he says as he stops the lawnmower and wipes the sweat from his brow
‘no problem, it’s got to be trusty work out here in this heat?
you say as you feel your face get a little red just from talking to him.
“Come on inside and I will get you that drink then”
Luke follows you in to the house straight to the kitchen. Where you grab him a cold cola from the fridge and hand it to him taking one for yourself too
“it’s so hot out there today“ Luke says, sipping his can
“Yeah is kinda hot in here too “ you say before you can even stop yourself, your face now bright red as you avoid making eye contact with him
“What do you mean buddy?” He asks, knowing exactly what you meant and with a cheeky smile on his face Just then your phone rings in your pocket
