Stretch and risk falling into the hole

You stretch out your arm and... topple over into the hole. You drop into a chute and go sliding down. Several frightening minutes later, you tumble to a landing. You shake your head, then stop and hold your nose. This place reeks.
After a couple minutes, your eyes adjust and you realize where you are. You're on a ledge inside a sewer tunnel. At least there's enough light for you to see the ledge you're on. You don't want to look too closely at most of the things floating past in the sewage. Or do you? You notice a large crate bobbing past.
