Your mouth tries to move, but no sound comes out. You eventually put your jaw back in place.
Melony is the first to recover her voice. "How long have you been watching?" she asks.
"The whole time," Elissa says. "When you two got engrossed in each other, I moved in for a closer look." She smiles. "I got off five times with my hand."
"Um..." you say, "you're... not upset?"
"Not at all," Elissa laughs. "I'm happy for Melony. She's never had a companion, and believe me, I know about loneliness."
"That's right," you say slowly. "You were abandoned while you were pregnant. I won't do what her father did."
"I should hope not," Elissa giggles. "If you get her pregnant, there's something very strange going on. Are you staying for dinner?"
