"I don't know... What kind of food do they serve there?" you ask while leaning up against the car and ignoring the little girl.
You can still see her out of the corner of your eye as she crouches down and starts looking at a shiny object in the center of the road. It looks like a coin or something.
"Chinese, but even if you don't like it you have to give this place a chance. I'm telling you it is the best place in town for Chinese food," Alexis says, unaware of the little girl.
Before you have a chance to answer, you hear a sudden loud screech at the end of the street. You glance in the direction it came from in time to see a car finish swerving onto your street and start speeding down it. Straight toward both Alexis, and the little girl. It has to be another drunk driver, something which is common in your neighborhood.
Alexis seems to have noticed the sound, but the little girl has not and remains blissfully unaware of the car barreling toward her. The driver of the vehicle either doesn't see the two people on the street, or doesn't care, as he shows no sign of slowing down yet.
