You manage to shake off your desire for blood, but can’t quite escape the annoying itching that the sun is causing you. You decide to return to your home to escape from the light for a while.
You run alongside the mountain range, staying on the shady side as much as possible. After a few minutes, you spot the innocuous-looking shrub that disguises the entry to your home. Pushing the hedge aside, you dive into the dark tunnel beneath it, replacing the bush at the last moment. The tunnel is a several-mile drop in sheer darkness. Upon reaching the bottom, you land like a feather upon the tip of a large jagged blade that stands erect at the base of the shaft. A simple defence mechanism to prevent any non-vampire investigators from probing to deep into your home, it is also handy for catching any travellers that have happened to stumble into your tunnel. To your dismay, there is no dinner waiting on your spear this time.
Feeling much more comfortable now that you are out of the light, you walk casually through your labyrinth of a vestibule, until you get to the last corner, and notice a small light coming from your living room. It’s not the sort of electric light that you have installed down here on the off-chance that your vampire senses suddenly disappear... it is unmistakably from a flame. A small one, from a single candle or a lighter perhaps, but fire nonetheless. From this you can deduce three things: There is someone in your home, they have the stealth and litheness of a vampire, and they have a weapon capable of harming you.
You enter a crouch and place your hand on the hilt of the dagger sheathed in your belt. As you silently approach the corner which leads into your home, you weigh up your options.
