Chapter 14: Knock Elena out or agree to her whims

Its Bryon's cousin Elena. She is wearing little more that a pink toga and sandals. Bryon is confused as to what business she would have in her father's harem. He is ignorant of her sado-masochistic tendances and believes her to be little more than a spoiled and pampered brat. He does not recognize the look of predatory glee in her eyes, thinking she will call the sentries at any moment.

When Bryron's father first sent him to live with his Uncle Korol, Bryon was so taken in by his cousin's beauty he at first overlooked what a bitch she was and fawned all over the lovely girl as everyone else did. Normally the duties of a noble's son serving as a paige, such as Bryon was, would consist of little more than serving trays of food at meal times, acting as a messenger, and generally performing small errands. It was his cousin Elena, however, who first started making him perform less attractive tasks once he stopped paying her attention. She made him clean her room, empty her chamber pot, obey her every whim. If he refused she would threaten to keep him from ever being knighted, and he knew she could do it too. The whole point of Bryon's father sending him here was so that Bryon would learn the value of honest labour, the better to understand and rule his subjects one day when he became Barron. It was no good running back home and complaining that he was being mistreated, his father would only believe Bryon was exaggerating.

Then his aunt died and things suddenly got even worse, if possible. He was whipped for the slightest mistake. Given little more than gruel like the peasants who lived in the castle. The Duke would never let him leave the castle walls. With the revelation that his aunt was murdered came the understanding now that the Duke intends to keep him a captive here. And now Elena had caught him in the Duke's harem. Korol would surely kill him if Elena turned him over to her father.

"Looks like I've caught a fox in the hen house! What to do, what to do? I suppose I could call the guards, but I've got a better idea." She gloats then becomes of the sword the boy has pointed at her. "Silly boy, put that sword away immediately or I shall become irritated." She commands him.

Obviously she believes Bryon wouldn't dream of actually harming her. And she is right, he can't kill her in cold blood. Bryon thinks about trying to knock her unconscious with the flat side of his sword though. But she did say she wouldn't call the guards, maybe he should hear her out first?
