"Suit yourself," says the fat man indifferently. "I'll just take back the jewelry she stole. She can keep the clothes, though, she has already ruined them."

He roughly searches Maria, pockets all her jewelry and slams the door in your face. You and your comrades walk back to Midnight in utter silence, bringing the terrified-looking Maria with you. As you expected, your other crewmen are very unhappy when you tell them that you just lost a week on a fool's errand, but you promise them that Maria will make up for it.

"Start by scrubbing the deck, please," you tell the girl. "You'll find a brush and a bucket in the storage room."

"All by myself?" she gasps. "I've never done this kind of thing before."

You turn to Raquel: "If the girl keeps whining, make her shut up."

"You bet I will," says Raquel with a maniacal grin. She grabs Maria by the arm and takes her downstairs. "C'mon, I'll show you the value of real work."

Time to sail back to the high seas and hope the next moneymaking opportunity is not a hoax.
