You grab your notebook and some table space and get to work. A time machine, that's the easy part; but what type? After a little thought you decide on something small, like a ring or a bracelet - it would be easy to conceal. Next: radiation, psychic, or quantum? You do a couple of preliminary sketches for each mechanism. Psychic appears to be the easiest to implement, if you can just figure out the machine-brain interface ...

"Hi."

You just about jump out of your chair.

"Trevor's being boring. Is that your project plan?" Emily leans over to look and you get a partial view down her cleavage. You feel a bit jealous, even though you know she's not flaunting it. "Do you want to see what I've got?"

"Here? Isn't that a little ..."

"Nonsense, silly." She opens her notebook and puts it in your hand, then sits next to you while you look at it. She's obviously done a lot of work; it's some kind of telepathy device. Which means she'll also need that machine-brain interface ...
