At the top of the stairs, you step out into a room lined with torches. At the far end you see a treasure chest and you curiously glance around for the guardians.
"Looking for someone?" asks a deep, rough voice, and you turn as a tall, black kitsune steps out of the shadows, the fox-man covered in glossy black fur, except for a white patch on his chest, with large, triangular ears atop his head, sharp golden eyes, an narrow, pointed muzzle and six bushy tails--
You look again. Strangely, three of the tails are white.
"Excuse me," you say, "but are you Yang?"
"I am Yin," the black kitsune says. "He is Yang."
You glance around the room, but there's no one else there. You start to ask where Yang is, but before you can, the black kitsune turns and you draw back in surprise as you are suddenly face to face with a white kitsune, a black patch of fur in the middle of his chest. He regards you with kind blue eyes.
"I am Yang," the white kitsune says, his voice soft. "Are you here for our treasure?"
"Of course he is," snarls Yin. "Didn't you notice that he's already had the naga's treasure?"
"And can't you smell the naga venom in his veins?" Yang replies, his tone ever so patient. "You know how that naga can be. How can we help you, young man?" Yang ask you. You're still staring at the two kitsunes. They are conjoined twins, fused from the back of the skull to just above their tails. They might even share a backbone.
