After getting out of the woods Emma runs home to clean up and change before making it back to the school gates just as the bell goes. Emma is stood waiting with the other mothers when somebody stands behind her and whispers in her hear.

"I didn't make any friends."
"We can't have that." Gem says behind them and then shouts "Josh."
Several people turn and look in her direction and a young black boy runs up to her.
"Hi Gem, where's mom?"
"At home, this is your new best buddy, Joe, so shake hands."
"Hi Joe, your new aren't you? We go home through the park and sometimes I get to play if we're not to busy, what about you?"
"My mom always lets me play in the park on my way home, don't you mom?"
"Yes." Both boys take off at a run. "Don't get too far head, remember, if you can't see me, I can't see you."
With the distinct impression they didn't hear her Emma follows them at a brisk walking pace with Gem just beside her.
"That was nice of you Gem, he's always found it difficult to make friends."

"Mom I had plans."

"Bye mom." Gem hangs up and puts the cellphone away. "Damn I had planned too spend the evening fucking you, Snowflake."
