I went out of sight of the guests, and looked at my phone.
I didn't have any new texts, but my Facebook News Feed was blowing up. Shawn must have changed his relationship status and it altered mine as well. A lot of people "liked" that I was now single. A lot of girls were chiming in, offering me moral support, but the guys were taking the opportunity to hit on me. My Facebook messages were full of guys trying to start new conversations.
I walked over to the bar to talk to Jake. He seemed friendly enough, and he didn't have many patrons considering it was only 1:30 PM on a Monday.
"Do you have any plans tonight?" he asked.
I stammered, not expecting his question.
"We are both out of here at 8," he continued. "We could just grab a quick bite and a drink." I began to tell him how I only just broke up with Shawn, but he interrupted me before I could finish. "Just two co-workers, sharing a bite to eat. No strings attached."
