You rush out of the car and around the back end, then charge at the two infected who have a grip on Cassandra. You ram the first with your shoulder, sending it's full weight into the second, and they both topple to the ground. Quickly, you fling open the passenger door and usher Cassandra inside, just as the two start to rise again.

You kick at the first one, a woman who's faced is covered in thick pulsating sores, and plant the heel of your foot right into her cheek. She groans on her way back down to the pavement. Unfortunately, before you can reel the kick back in, the other, a heavy-set man with wide palms and fat fingers, has a firm grip on your leg. He tugs hard, and your other foot slips on the pavement, sending you crashing down on your back into a rain puddle.

You kick at him with the other foot, and swing with both your fists, making contact but that doesn't stop him. The woman rises again, laughing now, and begins to help the man pin you down. You scream for help, but Cassandra starts the car.

You see the tail lights trail across the parking lot as Cassandra leaves you behind, just as the infected begin to get a formal hold on you. The woman pulls a small carving knife from her waistband and raises it over her head.

You close your eyes and wait for death, at least knowing that Cassandra and Melanie have a fighting chance at survival. That's better than nothing.
