You're done for the day and skate out of the construction zone. It's usually not crowded during school hours, though you know a few guys also skip class to play around at the arcade. You stop by a gas station on your way there, it's a popular place for a lot of kids since the clerk there doesn't mind letting minors buy beers, as long as a few extra bucks slip his way.
You grab a soda and two beers, paying with the spare lunch money you keep in the bottom of your backpack.
At the arcade, you see a mix of the regular and unusual. There's a mix of students from the boys' and girls' track teams, taking the rest of the day off after a race with another school or something. Hot and sweaty, even in the cool weather, the boys walk around shirtless and the girls let their sports bras show of a little more than usual.
A couple younger kids are playing inside the arcade today with a college student as their sitter. You can tell by the stack of books he keeps by him that he's less concerned with what the kids are doing and more concerned with his classes, though the look on his face tells you he's desperate for a good grade rather than passionate about whatever the textbook's about.
As usual, the manager of the arcade is at the counter, his eyes on the clock for when he can take his next smoke break. He was a senior at your school when you were a sophomore, though he dropped out when he turned eighteen and ended up working here. You two were only good acquaintances, but you were comfortable enough around him to give him a few handjobs for some extra cash. The past two months he's been paying less because of his smoking, but you know you can squeeze something out of him if you tried, and get paid for it too.
