Enter the Study in the bottom left

You walk into the study and come across some interesting. From the side it looks like an "L" and it's wider from the front in which the top half contains a black rectangle and the bottom half contains buttons with every letter and other characters And there is another one which has a circle and a line through the top half. The whole thing is dusty and seems to have not been touched in ages. It looks like it's been untouched for centuries. None of the buttons do anything.
