Downfall/Get your shoes, then go looking for her

You suppress the urge to run straight after Cate. If you were to run around in the dark without wearing shoes, there is a good chance to sustain a serious injury. You hurriedly put your sneakers on, not tying the laces to save time, before you rush after your sister. Three feet into the jungle, the world turns pitch black; you can't see the hand in front of your face. A few yards later, you stop and try to listen for noises made by Cate. Unfortunately, the wind rushing the trees is overpowering any noise Cate could have caused. You shout your sister's name once, twice: no response.
What now? The beach is to your left, and you know Cate didn't head there. You could keep on searching for Cate, or you could turn back and wait for daylight to go after her tomorrow (or hope Cate finds the way back to the camp after she cooled down).
