D&D: You are curious about the noise and enter the tinkering shop

Your curiosity gets the better of you and you decide to investigate the noises from the tinkering shop. It's probably better than walking in the sewers anyway. You enter the shop and see an old gnome occupied by his invention, a table of some sort. You approach the gnome to ask him what he's working on. Once he notices you he introduces himself.
"Hello there! What impeccable timing, I was just looking for someone to help me test my latest invention. Would you mind helping me?" he asks.
"What is it?" You ask.
"Oh an interrogation device of some sort, made for human females in particular which makes you the perfect candidate." The gnome responds.
