D&D: Waste no time in taking the wand.

From Create Your Own Story

You're in an unknown place, at an unknown depth, an unknown distance from any exit. You have no desire to linger any longer than you must. You move forward with all the speed you can muster, snatching the wand from the pedestal. The light grows for a moment, then dims to little more than a candle's flicker. It's warm to the touch and seems to physically vibrate from the sheer amount of magical energy within it. You smile. Too easy, you think to yourself, spinning on your two-inch heels.

You freeze.

Before you, standing exactly where your portal was, is an imp, just under two feet tall. He stretches his wings and body, scratches his stomach, and adjusts his small loincloth before looking up at you. He whistles. "Damn, you're a fine one, toots," he says.

"who-" you start, but the imp cuts you off.

"I'm nobody, really. Just the imp bound to that little trinket. My master, see, he was kinda forgetful, so he'd seal a weak spirit into anything he made. Their sole purpose was to remember what the thing did." The imp looks over his shoulder, and you follow his gaze. There's a door behind you. The imp looks at it expectantly. "Y'know sweet tits, my present owner probably knows someone's picked up the wand. Since you obviously didn't get in past'im, I suggest you expedite your exit."

D&D: The imp is right - best cast your recall now.

D&D: Too late! The door swings open!

D&D: The plants around you stir...
