Consequences of your actions, Alexander finds you, M

From Create Your Own Story

The bitter almond scent of the potion still lingers in the air, taunting you.

What have I done?

"That wasn't me," you say aloud to the empty room. "It was the potion. I didn't mean to hurt them."

But you did.

No amount of excuses can undo that damage. There's no coming back from this.

You rush upstairs, grabbing an old duffel bag from the closet. Hands shaking, you sweep an arm across your dresser, sending your wand and schoolbooks tumbling in.

Alex and Tyler will never understand. They'll see you as the villain, not the victim. Better to disappear now with some shred of dignity left. As you zip up the bag, a photo on your nightstand catches your eye. The four of you at your first year at the University of Magical Arts, arms slung around each other, young and carefree. Shouldering your bag, you cast one last look around the room that was once your home. Then you descend the stairs, stepping over the wreckage that is now the kitchen, and out the front door into the night.

The hotel room is dim and musty, a far cry from the cozy dorm you once shared with Alex and Tyler. But it's better this way. Safer for everyone.

Your phone vibrates with an incoming message. Heart skipping, you snatch it up, desperately hoping it's Nathan.

Tyler: Where are you?! We missed you in Transfiguration today. Everything okay???? We're making PASTA AND YOUR MISSING THE SAUCE

Guilt rises in your throat like bile. You remember the concern in Alex's eyes, the way Tyler would always save you a seat in the dining hall, how Nathan would always, always make you a portion of his food if he knew you had little in. They cared for you, and this is how you repaid them.
