Be a gentleman with the young lady and turn away

From Create Your Own Story

You turn around and allow the girl to slip out of her wet clothes, then reach out and hand her the crocheted blanket. She wraps herself in and slinks onto the couch. Finally, she reaches over and turns out the flashlight, and the room goes dark.

You feel around until you find the couch yourself, and find that the girl has turned over so that her back faces you. Being considerate, you lay on the couch and press your back to hers. She pulls the blanket up over both of you.

"Thank you again," she says, and you feel her hand reach for yours. Her fingers interlace with yours and she squeezes your palm. "Just hold my hand, okay?"

"Sure," you say, so tired that you drift off to sleep, warm and comfortable.

You awake at some point in the morning, and you're sure you can hear footsteps in the hall. You get up and put your ear to the door, and surely enough you can hear the sound of feet clomping around outside. They're loud, and it sounds like a group of people. You find yourself in a hazy panic, still half asleep. You can only imagine what's come into the station, and what it will do when it finds the two of you.

"Anyone alive in here?" You hear a voice shout. "United States army," the voice calls out again. "If anyone is alive in here, announce your presence now!" You jump in place, so excited for a stroke of good luck. "We're in here! Two of us! We're alive!" Leslie sits up on the couch, confused, rubbing at her eyes. You unlock the door and swing it open, and are greeted by several armed men with flashlights attached to their weaponry, and the light is nearly blinding.

Within an hour, you're whisked away to a military camp, where you're quarantined while medical officials search your entire bodies for signs of sores. When they're sure you're not infected, they release you into the camp with a fresh change of clothes, and pointing the way to a large tent where food and water await. On your way there, you see Leslie, who's now smiling from ear to ear. She approaches you and offers a handshake. "I wouldn't have made it here if it weren't for you," she says. You pull her in for a hug, and she seems quite happy to return it.

The two of you march off into the camp, arms around each other's shoulders. You've made it. You're safe.

Congratulations.
