An interesting dinner

From Create Your Own Story

The Stark family had an interesting dinner that night, with the exception of Arya. She was sent to her room without dinner for stealing Sansa's clothes. Even though she had denied stealing them, the dress had been found under her bed and she had gotten in more trouble for lying. Bran, on the other hand, had been congratulated by his father. Sansa told their father how Bran had gotten her some spare clothes, though she left out the part about the favor. His parents rewarded him by serving his favorite meal at dinner, and even his brothers patted him on the back.

As Bran ate, he stole a few glances at Sansa. She was obviously a bit uncomfortable, and fidgeted in her seat. Bran then realized she hadn't had a chance to change, and she was still without smallclothes. Bran's eyes scanned her body hungrily. Even though he had seen what was under the cloth, he craved to see it again. He still didn't know what favor he was going to ask of his sister, and had so many ideas it was hard to narrow it down. Bran had stopped eating, and his father took notice.

"Bran, we had them cook your favorite, chicken soup with those buttered pastries you called 'a gift from the old gods.' What's the matter?"

"Oh, sorry Dad," Bran stammered, trying to find an excuse, "It's just tomorrow we're leaving for King's Landing. I've never been to the South before. Will I ever go home again?" While Bran was lying about why he wasn't eating, this fact really did bother him. He was entering a whole new world, and it frightened him.

"Bran, you are named after one of the bravest men I've ever known," Ned said, leaning closer to his son. "I'm not going to lie. A lot is going to change, and I'm not sure what lies ahead. But what I do know is that we are Starks. We look out for each other. I will always look out for you, but I need you to look out for your sisters. I need you to be brave. Can you do that?" Bran nodded, inspired by his fathers words. He finished his dinner, taking the time to talk with his brothers and mother for one last dinner.

After dinner, everyone retired to their bedroom. Bran began taking off his clothes, but midway through he gave up and fell back on his bed. This was the last time he would ever sleep in this bed, at least for the foreseeable future. He wanted to be brave for his father, but it was hard to be brave.

Suddenly, Bran's door opened and a figure slipped in. It was Sansa, carrying a candle.

"Sansa, what are you doing here?" Bran asked. He was suddenly very aware that his shirt, shoes, and socks were off, as well as his belt.

"I'm here for your favor," she replied, setting the candle down. She was wearing a light blue silk nightgown, and as far as Bran could tell no smallclothes. "I don't want this following me to King's Landing, so can we just get it over with.

Bran was shocked. He hadn't expected to have to decide so soon. What favor does Bran ask of his sister?
