Clothing: Lord Valeran, like his father and brother, is more often seen wearing the distinctive blood coloured armour of the Hellfire, the army of Austhaven. However, when circumstance dictates, Valeran tends to lean towards loose pants and longcoats when forced out of his armour.
History: Lord Valeran inherited Austhaven when he was only a child due to his father dying in battle against marauding slavers and his mother dying years earlier to plague. As such, Valeran grew up with no authority but his own. This has bled into his adult life when he was selected to be the Imperial Marshal and command the defence of the Empire. Lord Valeran preferred to attack across the Badlands instead of waiting for barbarians to arrive. During his childhood in Austhaven, Valeran and his sister Marian were both stunned to discover that their father had kept a secret mistress outside the fortress, and they had a bastard brother. Valeran immediately called for his guard to bring him the boy. They did so, most in the court expecting Valeran to execute the bastard as a threat to his rule. However, the boy, only two years younger than Valeran himself, was not so ambitious. He simply wanted to serve. Valeran was so taken with his new brother that he took him in to his home and raised him up. This continued into his adulthood as well, as the bastard now serves as Valeran's right hand. After serving as the Emperor's military commander for so many years, Valeran has decided to attend the voting. This is his right as an Elector-Prince, but almost no Easterling has ever attended the Meet before. Perhaps Valeran wants to push his own claim, or throw the support of the strongest military leader of Vrioyavan behind one of the other candidates.
