Places

The town of Vesturhavnar is quite de-centralized, and is the smallest national capital in the COFR Alliance. The largest workplace is the docks, but many also work in smaller industrial areas or in the service trade. In comparation with other towns and villages in Kalduroyar, the town of Vesturhavnar has very few fishers, even though the harbour is one of the best in the whole archipelago.

Other villages in the municipality includes Vindavík and Langfjørð. The name Langfjørð is taken from the fjord with the same name in the eastern part of the municipality, but in this context, Langfjørð includes the villages around it; Kláksvík, Fjørðgápið and Flátbø. Another village is Hoydal, which is located halfway between Fjørðgápið and Vesturhavnar. Hoydal means "high valley", and in the bottom of the valley south of it, you will find the village Hoydalsbotnur ("Bottom of the high valley"). The Vesturhavnar Metropolian area includes the city of Veturhavnar, and the city parts of Tjørnuvík and Hoyvík. Two other villages are counted as parts of the metrolpolian area; Útbú and Stronð. Right outside the metrolpolian area, at the top of the hill just outside Hoyvík, you will find the village Norðtoftir, and passing through this and down a hillside, the village of Toftir is located at the end of Toftufjørð. Some people also count Kaldsbak in as a part of the metropolian area, but this village is half-a-way between the Landfjørð villages and the Vesturhavnar metrolpian area, as the village is not connected with Vesturhavnar by roads; to drive from Kaldsbak, you will have to drive down to Fjørðgápið, then through Hoydal, and lastly into Vesturhavnar. To sum this up, these are the villages and city parts in Vesturhavnar municipality:

  • Vesturhavnar City
    • Hoyvík
    • Tjørnuvík
  • Kláksvík
  • Fjørðgápið
  • Flátbø
  • Hoydal
  • Hoydalsbotnur
  • Kaldsbak
  • Útbú
  • Stronð
  • Toftir
  • Norðtoftir
  • Vindavík

Sports

Outside Vesturhavnar, heading to Brattnes, you will find the village Útbú, famous for it's sports arena where Vesturhavnar's local sports team, Útbú Ítróttarfelag (Útbú ÍF), plays it's home matches. Kláksvík has it's own sports team in the top of the national leagues, Kláksvíkar Ítróttarfelag (Kláksvíkar ÍF). The two mentioned teams are the best football teams in the National Kalduroyan Football Cup (NKFC).

Post marks

All the villages around Langfjørð are using Langfjørð as post mark. This means that if you want to send a letter to a person called Tór Hansen in Fjørðgápið, you have to mark the letter like this:

Tór Hansen,
Langfjørð

You don't have to write any number to indicate where Langfjørð is because the population is quite minimal, almost nobody have the same first and second name, and no names of places are used twice in the small country.
