When you get down to the heart of things, every Circle coterie is really a cult. Some, however, are more exclusively dedicated than others, perhaps maintaining otherwise lost rituals and belief systems. Sometimes a coterie cult can act as religious advisors for all the Acolytes in a city. Other coterie cults practice rites so far removed from the covenant's traditions that they are nearly unrecognizable. They may even go so far as to invent new deities.

Often several coteries in a region may worship subtle variations of the same goddess, and in those cases, each individual coterie is responsible for certain ceremonial rites that pertain to their "face" of the goddess. The quality of the rites a coterie holds is very important for the status of the coterie within the covenant as a whole.
