So. Maya grew up on this mountain somewhere, where she was training to become a spiritual medium. Cause the women of the Fey family have strong spiritual powers!!11 (Well, Maya's aren't all that strong, but uh.. she's still training). Anyway, her older sister Mia left the mountain a while back and wound up becoming a lawyer, but she still kept in touch. In fact, she often had Maya hold evidence after a trial had ended so it would be safe and hard to find and stuff. So it's after a murder case - where the victim got bludgeoned to death with a clock (>_o ow), and Mia's all sup sis, i've got a bloody clock u want to watch it for me lol? and Maya's all wtf, AGAIN? but agrees to it. She goes to Mia's law firm later that day and OMFG, MIA HAS BEEN MURDERED!!111one
Mia's rookie law partner, Phoenix Wright, shows up and freaks out completely since there's a strange girl in the building and his partner's all, y'know, dead. And then the police show up and due to a receipt on the floor near Mia's body with Maya written on it in blood, Maya gets arrested. Phoenix winds up defending her in court, blah blah Maya's OBVIOUSLY not the one that murdered her sister, blah blah, Mia's spirit randomly showing up to possess Maya and practically pop out of Maya's weirdass priestess outfit due to lol boobage, blah blah Maya deciding to stick around and help Phoenix out with future cases. Somehow.
...mostly by getting possessed by her sister. :D
In Purgatory
Maya spends most of her time tormenting helping Phoenix and Edgeworth around the office. She lives with Phoenix, Edgeworth and her sister Mia in an apartment somewhere; Maya often rummages through Edgeworth's Steel Samurai cards looking for rares, when she isn't poking him about his (mostly pink) wardrobe, or accusing Phoenix of not being hip.
