Confession of Sins

From Bubblegum Wiki

Confession of Sins (known as The Sinner's Prayer and the misinterpretation of 1 John 1:9)

Name many: Charles Finney, Billy Sunday, Billy Graham, Jack van Impe, Joel Osteen used 1 John 1:9 as a substitution on how to be saved. Even this so called Churches of Christ are caught doing it as well, they use 1 John 1:9 on backsliders known as those who fall away, lose their covenant of baptism and salvation.

Backsliding breaks your covenant of baptism thus your baptism is null and void. You must be rebaptized in order to have your backsliding forgiven.

Here's an analogy:

You as a kid play in the mud, you walk in and your mother commands you to take a bath. What happens when you play in the mud again? You have to re-bathe again

The mud in this analogy is sin, the bath is baptism. Every time we commit sin, we have to be baptized more than one time also known as rebaptism. Even if the phrase that says "One God, One Faith, One Baptism", doesn't you can only get baptized once. There is a biblical example that we must be baptized more than once or rebaptized. Namaan the Leper was commanded to bathe in the Jordan River seven times to have his leprosy cleansed.

Where do you find it? It's in 2 Kings 5:1

So why do I think that these false teachers use 1 John 1:9 as a substitute for the forgiveness of sins?

1 John 1:9: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Does a Christian literally confess his backsliding to be forgiven? No. John 9:31 proves God cannot hear a Christian's confession of sins even backsliding.

What is backsliding? Backsliding means to fall back into sin. If we as Christians fall back into sin we must be rebaptized
