HB Journal for Aug 2, 1939

From Brackbillwiki

After a little bit of struggling I managed to free myself from an enormous dream which was very superfluous.

Again today, the heat was one of our main concerns for we all nearly roasted. We were busy at the mill and in the afternoon John went away leaving us at the mercy of our customers.

Around our supper, Jane was wordless & I attempted to make her talk. She just would pout as usual in those cases & best I could do was to make her smile at a joke. We visited on our front porch in the evening. Jane went to Ethel's & I shall retire early.
