Oh noes canon rape (Daisie)

From Badrp

I'm a big Neil Gaiman fan: from the book end, not the comics end, though I'm plenty excited to read the Sandman series. I first read Good Omens before picking up the Books of Magic comics with Timothy Hunter -- very good stuff. Curiously, it wasn't long before I found Sages that I read his book Stardust. The story follows a boy named Tristan who (foolishly) promises the girl he loves, Victoria, that he will go fetch the star they saw fall from the sky. He ventures beyond the wall that guards his village and into the land of Faerie.

All in all, it's a fairly light book (YA), by turns whimsical, suspenseful, and clever. When Tristan finally manages to track the star down, he finds it's taken the form of a very confused and very spirited girl named Yvaine. They don't like each other at all to begin with, but the arduous task of making it out of Faerie alive helps them bond a little bit.

The end of the book says that they spent several years journeying together in the wilderness of Faerie, having adventures, and would only stay at their castle for short periods -- they'd arrive dusty, clothing torn, items lost. Now, based just on all that, let's see if this chart looks wonky to anybody else.

Yvaine (canon) Yvaine (Daisie)
Tristan? At first disliked because he treated her like a captive. Bonded some because of dangerous situations. Grew to like him towards the end. Eventually married and spent all her time with, adventuring and exploring, until he died. Hates. He captured her and was cruel to her and it's a tragic past so many years ago. He's a slaver (metaphorical or literal, we cannot tell).
Powers? Uh ... leaving trails of stardust? Knowing stuff from being a star. Well-liked by unicorns. MAGICK. Can fight mutants like Magneto and Pyro.
Adventurous? Yes. Does not need to be coddled, is a good person to tramping around in Faerie with. No. Fussy and insists on doing everything the proper way. Loud noises and arguments give her a headache. Habitually sics Dream (yes, the Endless) on anybody who displeases her.

Also, Yvaine would always offer people Turkish Delight. Always. A lot. Repeatedly. Given the other literary character infamous for handing out Turkish Delight you'd think the irony would have gotten to her.
