Suffering and Happiness

From Aryez

Book 64 of the Marfat

64: Suffering and Happiness

1. As the prophet Buddha said through his follower the Dalai Lama, “the most important

2. act of spiritual behavior is to be a good person. Even those

3. without God who are good people are much better than those

4. with God who are bad people. All people are trying to use

5. religion to escape suffering and obtain happiness, but they

6. do not realize that they themselves are the cause of their

7. unhappiness. Evil only slips in where humans let it. There might

8. be a million paths to happiness, but they all involve understanding

9. of the self and control over the self, harmony with the force, and

10. compliance with the natural law of God.”

11. It is better to speak the truth that hurts and then heals, than the

12. falsehood that comforts and then kills. Never tolerate suffering or pain.

Commentary: This book declares that the most important thing in life is to be a good person. It states that human greed and selfishness is the cause of most of the world’s unhappiness and once these factors are eliminated, all people will be able to achieve happiness. All paths to happiness and truth involve understanding and control over the self. The book also states that it is best to speak the truth as soon as possible to the fullest extend possible. People do not gain anything by lying and even the lie of omission is a lie. Even if omission may help in the short-term, it is better to always come out clean with the truth. If people see pain and suffering, they should not allow those to continue.
