Who we are
TonysGreenhouse.com is an environmental information and property maintenance company. When all sides, business, activists, pro and con, come to the table and talk, the true issues can be solved. A teachable moment. Users discover and publish content from the web. Read the latest research and information. Not a social network, nor a blog, but a place to retrieve updates on what matters to you and your world.
Philosophy
TonysGreenhouse.com is an environmental thinking company. This is an earth harmony website with-the-bottom-line-in-sight.
Viriditas vs. veritas
Viriditas in omne tempus (Latin, literally "greenness until all time") Veritas meaning truth
Why we are
The idea stems from a National Geographic Magazine article about the bio-fuel benefits of the sugarcane plant. From the stalks of sugarcane comes research into japhotra and bagasse.
- Japhotra (def'n)
- 1. a tropical fruit tree found in Mexico that is on the cutting edge of research into alternative fuels. A possible source of bio-diesel by conversion into bagasse.
- Bagasse (alt. bagass)
- 1. the biomass remaining after sugarcane or sorghum stalks are crushed to extract their juice and is currently used as a renewable resource in sugarcane mills.[1]
- 2. the word bagasse, from the French bagage via the Spanish bagazo, originally meant "rubbish," "refuse," or "trash."[2]
Cliché it maybe, but "one man's trash is obviously another man's treasure." This blog and Wikipedia combination will be the prime source of objective and scientifically supported environmental research. A blog, short for "web log," is a website or online journal where the author(s) regularly publish commentaries on personal and public issues. Blogs allow readers to exchange comments on posts, and create a conversation. By expanding this opportunity for readers to dialogue with one another, a constructive debate is orchestrated in a virtual or internet environment.
Vision
This is where MySpace.com minus the personal profiles and National Geographic converge. In other words Slashdot.org for the wildlife conservation and the green environmental movement. The web venture will brand and galvanize ripe new territory for profit. Begin by doing what the internet was designed for and passing information. Initial revenue will come from targeted advertising. A small sampling of candidates being pursued include Duke Power [3], Shell Energy [4], and the National Resource Defense Counsel [5].
Objective
The Eco-pedia will be the springboard to publicize the expertise of recognized researchers in the Cooperative Extension field. This will expand into reader generated content on the front page to gain daily information on current events. In combination daily spotlights from readers, and documents research by Extension Agents will build an educated audience. This can be moved into direct purchases through the marketplace.
The focus is simple: Do Not question how we can save the rain forest and stop global warming. Question how each person in our own small efforts can join together and create momentum, and thereby change.
This Business Plan contains a complete service and objective product listing with web page mock-ups. The blog, library, and marketplace schematics, along with the financial data analysis should serve as evidence that I am committed to this endeavor.
