A creature distinct from the fangirl, the fanboy is known for obsessive knowledge of previous continuity and a harrowing reverie of useless minutia. The term is not actually entirely gender-specific, as females are just as capable of fanboyish traits as males are. It is, in fact, possible to be a fangirl and a fanboy at the same time. (cf.
