Proposer's summary and declarations
This is to create an elected position of Mayor. The Mayor will be in charge of setting the agenda and seeing to the overall flow and implimentation of proposals.
I am thinking that the elections themselves would be on a totally different page. Like a Mayor of Nomicapolis Page or something. With the actual player listed on the Article and the votes on the Talk page.
As written it would be the Mayor's resposiblity to create the Proposals, and to create the appropriate wiki pages, therefore putting in Proposed by (Player). The Mayor could claim all the Proposals for himself, but I doubt the player would be in office long.
Yes you need a supermajority to kick out the Mayor. I did not say supermajority as that term may change and I wanted it to be 2/3 majority vote. Meaning the majority must be two thirds. And for the record a "Simple majority" is defined as 50% not just a majority.
Debate
How would the elections be handled (at least initially)? Would they be handled like a normal proposals? Or would you suggest a dedicated elections page be created? I know that these questions have no bearing on the proposal in question, it's just that I would want to get started on making the required templates if and when this proposal et al are passed as the elections would begin immediately. --Simulacrum 02:07, 18 November 2006 (EST)
- So nobody other than the mayor would be able to introduce proposals? So if the "10 points for a successful proposal" proposal passes, then only the mayor will see those points? Or do you mean something else when you say "introduce"? For instance, I make a proposal, and the mayor types a little introduction section, giving his thoughts on the subject? - Also, just to be picky, by "2/3 majority vote" do you mean that more than 1/3 of the voters must agree to kick the mayor out? We have defined "majority" as more than 50% of the vote, so a 2/3 majority would be 2/3 of 50%, which is 1/3. Incidentally, we have also defined the term "supermajority" as more than 66% of the vote. - But "2/3 majority vote" is not defined, and it's not self-explanatory. If we get another person on here who, like me, is picky about words - and is not as ethical as I am :) - they might argue that "2/3 majority" means 2/3 of a majority. And Dictionary.com defines "majority" as "a number of voters or votes, jurors, or others in agreement, constituting more than half of the total number." Also, what is the point of having terms defined as in 310, if we're not going to use those definitions because they might change? Applejuicefool 14:36, 18 November 2006 (EST)
