Max3 was a Dark User that copied Max2. However, as revealed in the Wiki Story, he has a good side, and has recently used it many times, making it debatable f he is now a troll.
Carnival Land
In MarioWiki Carnival, this music plays during his level, The Diceo. He shares this level with Max.
Wiki Story (Beta)
In Wiki Story, he was constantly bullied by the other Trolls and Dark Users in Troll Town. When the Willy on Wheels army struck Leet Town, Max3 snuck in and saved Beanbean and Paper Luigi DS from Willy. During the course of the story, he realizes who he is and what he must do. He ended up saving Max2. Near the end of the story, he is living with Max2 and 3dejong.
Legend of the Infinite Empire
Max3 appears aboard the Earthpound and duels Max2, after a lnog fight Max3 dissappears. It is unknown if he shall appear again.
