Short for "relationshipping," referring to the maniacal devotion to a romantic relationship between two fictional characters. Sometimes canonical, sometimes spitting in the face of continuity, shipping, like love itself, requires little in the way of logic. Almost every possible pairing of El Goonish Shive has at least one follower. Recent popular ones include Nanase/Ellen, now established as canon, and Susan/Justin, which, while hypothetically possible, has a snowball's chance in Hell of actually happening.

Shipping is most often seen in fanfics, though forum posts and threads are not immune to its influence. Those afflicted by it are known as shippers, and should be simultaneously pitied and avoided, as shipping can be highly contagious. Those with extreme cases of shipping should treated as zombies, and dealt with as such.
