From Dragons Exodus

Arnath is the oldest city of the Realms. It was created in the days just after the great battle between Corin Mur (by Caimen and the three of the principal New Gods) by the Lord Archinus who took this city as his own, as Caimen claimed Ravenwood in those days. It was he that installed King Adrian as its King. Indeed, this makes the royal family of Adrian as the oldest Reigning House in the realms. It was the sign of the Lord Archinus' favour that Discordance's clan hold was installed within the city. The city grew larger and more prosperous under his blessing.

With years, however, Archinus's might grew weaker on the one hand, while on the other the city grew larger. As Archinus departed from the realms, Lady Kleothera took up the mantle of protection (along with the Leadership of Discordance). It is then that Lord Caimen took personal interest in the City. An extensive period of rebuilding was entered into. The city was divided into Upper and Lower Arnath and several gardens were planted. In the resulting changes, the Clan Discordance was made to move out of the City by order of Caimen himself. It, however, continued to extend its hand of protection of the city.

When the Clan Discordance fell, the alliance between Arnath and the Goddess Kleothera was transfered to the Circle of Fire, its successor. That clan's hold still stands on the place of the burned down clan hold once stood. A treaty seeking mutual support and offering trade concessions was signed. The Circle and Arnath coexisted peacefully for centuries.

Thousands of years later, another clan appeared- a Clan called Apostasy. The restriction imposed by Caimen on construction no longer applied by then and that Clan's Hall was established within the city. Apostasy pledged to defend and support the City. Sespecially when Berelain became its Goddess. The decadent, somewhat immoral and luxurious ways of Apostasy attracted many adherants. The relationship between the Circle and Apostasy, however, remain strained.

Over the years, others have claimed their rights over the city. The God Caimen had at one time set up his Temple in the City and denied any rights to those of the clans. His hand was suspected in a mysterious outbreak of the plague within the city. The Halls of the Knights of the Sky lie in the heavens above the city. Without doubt, Arnath is the city with the most complicated politics.
