You rush across the lot and swing the flashlight wildly, catching the man unaware. It clips him against the back of the head, and he spins around and releases the girl. You swing again, this time catching him in the face. He topples backwards to the parking lot, splashing up water as he lands on his back. Lightning flashes over head, and you can see his face is marred with dozens of blood-red blisters.
The girl immediately clings to you, pointing to the store. "We have to get inside!" she yells. "There could be a lot more out here in the dark."
You hear Melanie scream for help across the lot, and still wonder what the hell she was thinking.
