"Sozin, Nern, stay about 20 miles out. The Jarif is going in to investigate. We intend to send in a party to try and make contact. Nern, what can you tell me about the ship?"
"We are analysing the data coming through now, commander. So far we have ascertained that it is the Nebulous, a cargo ship that is perhaps a hundred years old. There is damage to its hull, including around its main port. This may cause problems in docking the Jarif. We have been unable to contact them - all we are getting is noise across all communications frequencies."
The Jarif approaches. Your pilots attempt to create a seal with the Nebulous' main port, but are unable to. The twisted metal around the port is obstructing the Jarif from getting close enough. Now the Claud is smaller and could probably squeeze in. However, you could more easily use one of the escape shuttles aboard the Jarif to hop across to one of the minor ports on the Nebulous. The problem with that is that escape shuttles are only intended to be single use, so if your people can't fix her, you might be stuck on the Nebulous.
